Project Overview.
Ekona Power Inc. (Ekona™) is developing a breakthrough decarbonization technology for economic, industrial-scale clean hydrogen production, deployable wherever there’s natural gas infrastructure. Using an established process – methane pyrolysis – in a ground-breaking new way, Ekona is creating a low-cost clean hydrogen production pathway to meet growing global demand for hydrogen, decarbonized natural gas, and greenhouse gas reductions at the scale and timing necessary to combat climate change. Ekona is currently expanding its Burnaby Pilot Plant – a 200-kilogram-per-day clean hydrogen production testing facility – and building a one-tonne-per-day clean hydrogen plant for field testing in Alberta.
Giffen is delivering detailed engineering services to support modularization of Ekona’s xCaliber™ reactor, which is at the heart of Ekona’s clean hydrogen production platform. The project will deliver a packaged reactor and supporting systems for integration into Ekona’s platform. Overall scope includes electrical and instrumentation to facilitate detailed data collection to support plant operations.
