What is the best advice you could give to a brand new employee? Building relationships and understanding how to work with different people and situations are just as important as building technical skills.
What is one thing that you wish people knew about your job or industry? That the mining industry is highly regulated, and us, as engineers try their best to ensure that the mine design, equipment and process meet those standards.
When did you first know that you wanted to pursue a career in this field? The idea of designing something at a very large scale really intrigued me since university. Combining my interest of test work and love of travel, made it a career worth pursuing.
What do you love most about your job? Travelling to different countries to work with different engineers and different projects.
What piece of advice would you give to your younger self? Try to get as much work experience as possible.
What would your perfect weekend look like? Perfect weekend would be out with friends at a weekend getaway with lots of good food and a hot tub.
What do you like to do outside of work? Travel, cook, try to learn and gain new experiences/skills.
What is your favorite local spot to eat / drink? Sushi Hachi, Richmond, BC
What would be your dream job (that isn’t this one!)? Run a private tour guide business.
If you could visit any place in the world, where would it be? Japan is my favorite place in the world to visit.
