Project Overview.
Giffen was engaged by B2 Gold Corp. (previously Sabina Gold & Silver Corp.) to support the detailed engineering for a greenfield installation of a 65 million litre fuel storage and distribution facility for haul trucks, day trucks, and light vehicles at the Back River Gold Project.
The 65 million litre fuel storage and distribution facility required five tanks ranging from 5 million to 18.4 million litres. As part of the detailed engineering and greenfield installation, Giffen’s scope included:
– participation in HAZOPs, constructability, and maintainability design sessions
– assisting coordination between disciplines
– providing progress reporting for the safe delivery of the project
– development of mechanical equipment lists, pump datasheets, pump specifications, piping and instrumentation diagrams, piping line lists, valve lists, plans, and general arrangements.
The Back River Gold District consists of five mineral claim blocks along an 80 km long belt in the southwestern Kitikmeot Region of Nunavut, Canada; one of which is the Goose Project. The Goose Project provides the production infrastructure for the belt.
