Project Overview.
Creative Energy engaged Giffen to provide conceptual-level designs, including standard project deliverables like piping and instrumentation diagrams, single line diagrams, general arrangements, and reports, for its ambitious Decarbonization Project.
Launched in 2023, the first phase of Creative Energy’s Decarbonization Project aims to deliver 14 MW of electric steam boilers to supply low-carbon steam to the Vancouver Downtown Core steam system, with future phases to be added for additional capacity. Giffen is supporting this initiative by exploring alternative designs and execution options for boiler replacements, contributing to the overall efficiency and sustainability of the project.
The project is underway at the Beatty St. Steam Plant, where four new dual-fuel boilers and two electric boilers will be installed, with space allocated for two additional electric boilers. The installation will occur in two phases, replacing four existing boilers with new electric ones, further enhancing the plant’s green energy capabilities.
